I’ve always had a love of cars—probably like most young guys growing up in the 60s and 70s. I originally owned muscle cars. A Z28 Camaro, a Firebird, a 440 Road Runner and the like.
In the early 80s, my interests shifted toward sports cars—more driving enjoyment and, as it turned out, fewer tickets. A friend offered me his ’86 944 Turbo to try for a few days, and that was all it took. From that moment on, my wife Kelly and I became proud Porsche owners.
Over the years, we’ve owned nine Porsches in total, starting with that 944 Turbo and followed by an ’89 Carrera Cabriolet, Boxsters, Cayennes, Macans, and now our current garage includes a 2013 Carrera S Cabriolet and a 2024 Macan GTS.
We joined the Porsche Club of America in 1997 while living in Kamloops, BC, and quickly came to love the social side of the club. The friendships, shared passion for the cars, and the opportunity to attend national events and group drives have been incredibly rewarding.
While in Kamloops, I served as Vice President of the BC Interior Region. After moving to Kelowna, I was asked if I would consider taking on the role of President. Being retired, I had the time—and with the tremendous support of my wife Kelly, we helped grow the club to nearly double its original size.
Kelly and I really enjoyed getting to know John and his wife Nancy, and when they approached us about taking on the Zone Representative role, we felt it would be a great fit and an exciting next step.
Outside of PCA, I stay active playing on a competitive softball team that travels throughout the Northwest, as well as enjoying pickleball and golf. Kelly is an accomplished photographer with a passion for wildlife and landscape photography, often capturing the places we visit along the way.
What are Zone Reps?
Zone Reps act as intermediaries between PCA national and the regions of their Zone. They monitor their regions to see that each region is running smoothly and serving its membership, assisting and advising the region presidents as necessary. They also carry issues from the regions to PCA national, representing the opinions and concerns of their districts to ensure that the national organization’s actions are reflecting the needs and wishes of the membership.
